Anyway I have been receiving Micro Current Facials, Microdermabrasion, Oxygen Facials every 3 months and my skin is so happy for it. Cheryl also turned me onto the Clarasonic brush which in my opinion is brilliant. I asked Cheryl a few questions which you will see below. Also I want to share her contact information in case you need some Spring cleaning! 718 965-2617 or cheryl@cherylmckereghan.com and check out her website http://www.cherylmckereghan.com/Menu.html
What got you interested in Skin Care?
As a massage therapist working in a spa, I became interested in what the facialists were doing- One night I dreamed that I was giving a facial to someone and I really loved it. I enrolled for aesthetics school sometime after that and here I am 17 years later and still loving it.What are your thoughts about the Clarasonic?
I highly recommend the clarisonic brush and I use it myself every night to clean my skin- I wear sunscreen daily and love the way it thoroughly but gently removes surface impurities and sunscreen, etc. In addition, since I use a vitamin serum at night, using the facilitates deeper absorption of the serum into the epidermis. What advice do you have for women in their 30’s and 40’s in regards what they should be doing (as far as skin maintenance) who don’t want to do botox and fillers?
Firstly, to women of ANY age, sunscreen and avoidance of direct sunlight is paramount for protecting the skin from the signs of premature aging- fine lines, wrinkles, hyper pigmentation. If you see the sun the sun sees you, I like to say. Along with a healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition, exercise, stress management, and adequate sleep, cleaning the skin at night and applying a collagen/elastinstimulating serum which would include vitamin A, Vitamin C, peptides and antioxidants to protect the skin. And of course, since I am a facialist I would say if you enjoy them to get regular facials customized for your skin's needs.
What advice to you have for young adults (pre-teens and teens who are struggling with pimples and blackheads and changing of skin)?
Depending on the grade of acne a dermatologist may be consulted for a thorough analysis of hormone levels, etc. For mild to moderate acne that may be brought on by elevated stresslevels or even food allergies, keeping a journal for a few weeks to evaluate food and stress levels to determine the culprit may be helpful. And always cleaning the skin properly, especially in the evening and using gentle products that are formulated for your skin condition. And avoid picking at and squeezing the pores especially with exposed fingertips, as the bacteria under the nails can further
aggravate the condition. Here again, an aesthetician's deep cleansing facial may be helpful to clear up and maintain a healthy skin.
