Did you just say Ma'am???

So I've really noticed over the past year or so (maybe longer and I haven't noticed) is that I'm starting to get called Ma'am a lot. . .. Really????

I remember walking into  Uniqlo and these 2 young ladies were greeters at the door. You know the one's that say "Welcome to Uniqlo blah blah blah" So as I walk in slightly confused on what direction to go in and I stop for a second and I hear "Welcome to Uniqlo Ma'am can I help You"? Of course I turn around to see who they are talking to and then I realize they were talking to ME. Crap, REALLY?

As I walk up the stairs there goes another greeter ready to greet me with "Welcome to Uniqlo." This time it's a cute guy I'd say in his 20's and he gives me a smile and say's Welcome to Uniqlo Ma'am do you need any help? WTF!!
Did the 2 girls downstair talk to him on his radio and tell him to say Ma'am? is this a conspiracy?
Don't they know how cool I am? Maybe my face is having a bad day.
My first reaction was to scold them and tell them that "ma'am is a horrible word to call a "young lady." Can you imagine if I did. . that would have been a total "ma'am" reaction for sure.

So I get home and google the definition of "Ma'am" just to see what they are thinking when they call me this word and this is the one definition I quite like

World English Dictionary
ma'am  (mæm, mɑːm, ( unstressed məm)
— n
short for madam
usage Ma'am  is used as a title of respect, especially when  addressing
female royalty

I'll take it!!! Do they think I'm a Princess from some foreign country??

 Yes Yes that's it.

Yesterday I get a voicemail from my friend Sara telling me how she was walking down the block feeling good and this really cute guy passes her and smiles and she smiles back and he say's "have a nice day Ma'am". OMG WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? she says on my voicemail and as I'm listening to this voicemail smiling and  thinking just except it we are getting "up there".
