My close friend Gary Pini who is really family sometimes suggest books he thinks I would like. Last year he brought over this book called Townie by Andre Dubus 111. I'm embarrassed to say I haven't read a book in a few years. It sat on my table and this weekend I was fortunate to make my way to Palm Springs. I grabbed the book and finished it on my flight home. I really liked it. I think because it was just a super simple story that had a deeper meaning. It reminded me of being his age (16, 17) and searching for something, finding myself, leaving my comfort zone and trying to be awake, still.
