Once every say 6 to 8 weeks I have an on going dinner with 3 ladies who I just adore. They are all successful in what they do. I think what I love about them is they are no nonsense, trustworthy, straightforward, never gossip and have my back as I do theirs. We never really touch base with each other until we all feel like “it’s time girls to get this dinner together”.
One lady in particular, Kerrilynn Pamer of Castor & Pollux Store in the
West Village (Manhattan) has been a friend for about 11 years. When I moved to
Brooklyn about 14 years ago the only thing I missed was a shop I could go to
and see beautiful things and get visually stimulated. KL as we call her was the
first one to open up a beautiful clothing store right next to my place (since
moved her store to Manhattan). I would stroll my baby around trying to get him
to go to sleep (torture) and find great comfort with my sleeping baby and a pop
into Castor & Pollux to get my fashion fix. . . but mostly to get to know
KL.
Anyway my mother had been very ill and it was a devastating
time when she passed away. AWFUL.
KL so stepped up to the plate. She wasn’t the friend who constantly said what
can I do. . she just did it. I wanted to do a little Q & A with her as she
is extremely inspiring on how she constantly comes up with new ideas, has such
passion with everything in her life. She has great love of people, animals,
food, music, fashion and my favorite part of her is LAUGHTER.
So my love, What Up?
I don’t know anyone who has as much JOY and PASSION as you.
How do you do it and where does that come from?
First off, thank you for the kind and generous introduction, the feeling is completely mutual

It’s
so wonderful to hear you think I’m filled with joy and passion -- two qualities
that I try very hard to nurture and develop every day. I believe that there are
things you can do to make joy and passion a part of your life, for me they
include: taking good care of yourself, spending time with the people you love,
being kind (to others and especially to yourself) and appreciating each and
every day. So far, by actively doing the above I’m pretty happy and passionate
most of the time.
What or who is particularly inspiring to you right now?
I’m
always inspired when I travel. Going to Japan this past January introduced me
to so many beautiful things – a complete way of life that I found absolutely
fascinating. Then we went to Jamaica in February and soaked up the sun and good
vibes. This summer we’ve been spending time out in Sag Harbor and it never
ceases to amaze me how beautiful that part of the country is. I love seeing new
things, the more often I do, the better I feel.
I bought the Maggie Bracelet’s for my Mother in Law and she
LOVES them. They are simple and beautiful and the best part is you can have
them engraved! What else do you have in the works?
We’re
working on a knitwear collection that will be in the store come September and
we just introduced our first handbag, the CAP. We are also moving forward with
more jewelry design -- some personalized pieces that I’m very excited about and
can’t wait to have in the store. We’re always working on new products and I’m
terribly excited about all the upcoming pieces that will be on the site and in
the store. More to come all the time.
What are your hot spots in Brooklyn?
You
know I always hang out at franny’s and adore the drinks and food. Other than
that I spend a lot of time cooking at home, not so exciting but one of my
favorite places to be.
God I miss having C & P in Brooklyn, Any chance of a
return?
I’d
love to have another store in Brooklyn, I definitely wouldn’t cross it off your
wish list!
